From Press Release
The postseason seeds have been set for the inaugural United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX) Championship Weekend, which will officially go down on July 30-31st at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.
UWLX Championship Weekend gets underway on Saturday, July 30th, with a semifinals doubleheader at Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. After owning the best record in the regular season, the Long Island Sound (6-2) secured the no. 1 overall seed in the playoffs and will face the no. 4 seed Philadelphia Force (2-6) at 5:30 p.m. that day. Philadelphia enters the postseason as the hottest team in the league after winning its final two matches, including a victory over the top-ranked Sound.
The second match-up that evening will see the no. 2 seed Boston Storm (5-3) take on the no. 3 seed Baltimore Ride (3-5) at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the semifinals. Boston has consistently played very good lacrosse throughout the regular season, while the Ride looks to rally behind the momentum of playing in front of its hometown crowd.
After the Saturday action, the winners of the two semifinal matches will square off that Sunday afternoon in a 1:00 p.m. title match, where the first-ever UWLX Champions will be crowned.
Tickets for UWLX Championship Weekend are available now and can be purchased on the UWLX website. Additionally, sponsorship opportunities are currently available for the UWLX Championship event, and companies interested in taking advantage can contact the league directly today.
Fans unable to make it to Baltimore for UWLX Championship Weekend will still be able to catch all three postseason matches live, as the league is partnering with ESPN to offer the game broadcasts via the WatchESPN app and ESPN3.com.
