Eight Philly boys in the Class of 2016 helped FCA Lacrosse place third in the Division I tournament in the High School tourney at the Vail Lacrosse Shootout on Wednesday.
The FCA Philly group featured all-tourney picks Alex deMarco (goalie, Penn commit) and Forry Smith (attackman, Johns Hopkins) of Haverford School; Brendan O’Neill (Haverford School, attackman, Johns Hopkins), Ryan McNulty (Bishop Shanahan, LSM, Loyola), Patrick Lyons (Salesianum School, DEFLSM, North Carolina), Ryan Murray (Malvern Prep LSM/DEF, Penn), Kyle Anderson (Malvern Prep, attackman, Harvard) and Luke Desperito (Haverford School, midfielder, UVA).
FCA defeated DC Elite, 13-12, in double overtime in the third-place game as deMarco was a standout and made a key save in the second OT to set the stage for the win.
The Red Bandanas – comprised of players from 10 states – won the title on a goal by Jeremy Magno (Bergen Catholic-NJ/Harvard), his third of the game. Anthony DeMaio (Coronado-CA/Boston University) led the Red Bandanas with five goals, and attack Ryan Graff (Bloomington Jefferson-MN/Harvard) also scored three, while Nicholas DeMaio (Coronado-CA, 2018/Boston University) scored two. Connor Fletcher (Princeton Day School-NJ/Cornell) and Lucas Cotler (Syosset-NY/Yale) also scored for the Red Bandanas.

The third place game was yet another nail biter with double overtime. FCA goalie Alex de Marco made a key save in the second overtime adding to his many throughout the game, allowing his team the win.
