Widener Director of Athletics and Recreation Chuck Sack has announced that head men’s lacrosse coach Kyle Gardner has been promoted to full-time status and also will serve as Assistant Director of Campus Recreation.

Gardner, beginning his second year as head coach, will join David Deal (Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Campus Recreation) l in Campus Recreation as the Assistant Director. Gardner will also assist in the supervision of both club and intramural sports.
Neumann went 1-12 in Gardner’s first year but the program has made major strides in its recruiting process.
Gardner is a 2010 graduate of Neumann University with a degree in English. He was a three-time Captain, three-time All-Conference player, 2008 Men’s Lacrosse Team MVP, and 2009 Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Academic Team Honors. During his three seasons, Gardner accumulated 44 goals, 28 assists and 42 ground ball s in 36 contests.
Originally from the Greater Philadelphia area, Gardner has strong ties to the local lacrosse scene and attended Perkiomen School in Montgomery County. After Neumann, Gardner spent four years at the Blue Ridge School in Virginia, where he was the Varsity Head Lacrosse Coach and Lacrosse Program Director.
At Blue Ridge, Gardner built a championship caliber program, with his teams winning three consecutive VIC championships, as well as making it to the VISAA Division 1 State Finals in 2012, and returning to the State quarter-finals in 2013. His teams at Blue Ridge amassed a total record of 51-24 during his four year span at the helm. Gardner was named the 2012 VIC Coach of the Year. During his four years at Blue Ridge, Gardner produced two All-Americans, 15 All-State Players and 22 All-Conference Players.
