From Press Release
For the second year in a row, Upper River Lacrosse will host its annual development camp on the Main Line outside of Philadelphia on July 5-10 and July 11-17.
This summer camp is divided into two parts, with the first week focusing on skills and the second week bringing all the campers together to form a team that will compete in a tournament at the end of the week. Campers are welcome both locally and from across the nation. Position experts from major universities and professional teams will be at camp throughout the week, ensuring that campers get specialized attention.
If you’re interested in meeting some of the coaching staff and Upper River Team, Upper River will be at the following events this spring:
Katie Samson Foundation Lacrosse Festival: April 23, Radnor High School, Radnor, PA
Heritage Lacrosse Chapter Challenge: April 30-31, Brandywine Polo Club, Chester County, PA.
“I look to forward to working with young players trying to improve their game,” stated Head Coach Ryan Tessler, a St. Joseph’s University and Bethpage High School graduate who is also head coach at Holy Ghost Prep outside of Philadelphia. “This unique approach to summer lacrosse focuses on player development rather than just showcases. We want players and families to enjoy the lacrosse experience at Upper River this summer.”
In addition to sharpening skills for the high school season, Upper River is set up to help players decide how they want to advance their game. Campers will get exposure to a number of college coaches with connections that will be beneficial throughout the college recruiting process. There will also be a live presentation on recruiting for athletes and their families.
“Upper River is excited to bring lacrosse back to its offerings this summer and add this unique experience to the great opportunities already available for lacrosse players both locally and nationwide,” said J. D. Bridges, Upper River’s owner and founder. “It’s really an experience unlike anything else in lacrosse: a camp that lets you put your skills to work in a tournament. It also fits perfectly with UR’s mission of bringing new, meaningful development experiences to dedicated athletes.”
Housing is provided at Villanova University for one or both weeks of camp. Enrollment is capped at 22, and admissions are rolling and available at upperriverlax.com/application”>upperriverlax.com/application. For Tournament Week, current 8th and 9th graders are eligible to apply, and anyone between the ages of 12-16 is eligible for Skills Week.
