Saint Joseph’s senior Mallory Grey (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and junior Nora McCallion (Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) have been selected the Hawks’ co-captains for the 2016 women’s lacrosse season, as both voted on by their teammates and selected by the coaching staff.
“Mallory and Nora have stepped up and proven to be strong leaders for us throughout the off-season, and we expect them to continue to lead this team both on and off the field this spring,” said second-year head coach Alex Kahoe.
Grey, a senior defender out of Randolph, New Jersey, was one of four Hawks to start all 16 games last season. She ranked second on the team in draw controls (33) and tied for third in caused turnovers (17) and also added three goals and two assists on the offensive end of the field. Grey received last year’s Raymond Vasquez Award for being a “person for others” and majors in sports marketing.
A junior accounting major out of Narberth, Pennsylvania, McCallion started 13 of 15 games last season and ranked in the team’s top three in points (24), goals (16), and assists (8). McCallion is a two-year starting attack for the Crimson and Gray and owns 54 points (35g, 19a) in 31 career games.
Saint Joseph’s opens the 2016 season at American on Saturday, February 20. The Hawks’ home opener is slated for Wednesday, February 24 against Monmouth.
