From Press Release
Epoch Lacrosse, a manufacturer of innovative technologically advanced lacrosse equipment, is proud to announce the signing of their first endorsed National Lacrosse League professional lacrosse player, Ryan Benesch, to a multi-year deal. Ryan is an elite forward for the Buffalo Bandits who has a reputation for being a deadly goal scorer, leading the league in goals in 2011.
“We are excited to be working with one of the preeminent and most creative goal scorers in the NLL,” said James Miceli, principal and founder of Epoch Lacrosse. “Ryan is a great addition to the team at Epoch and will play a fundamental part in helping us achieve our brand and product goals. Besides being a great player, Ryan is a great person and we are happy to have him on board.”
Benesch was drafted first overall in the 2006 NLL entry draft by the San Jose Stealth and was traded to the Toronto Rock for Colin Doyle. A native of Canada, Ryan developed his box skills at an early age playing minor league lacrosse and Junior ‘A’ ball for the Kitchener-Waterloo Braves.
“I am excited to be part of Epoch’s team and helping them to develop the next generation of lacrosse equipment,” said Ryan Benesch. “I have known the guys at Epoch for years and have been a big fan of their gear for a long time. Epoch really knows what elite players want and need in their equipment. The technology that goes into all of Epochs products is amazing and I feel will give me a definite competitive edge.”
Benesch made a name for himself in his rookie NLL season being named Rookie of the Week three times and was also awarded the Rookie of the Year Award in addition to being named to the NLL’s All-Rookie team. Over the years, Benesch has shared his goal-scoring prowess with the Edmonton Rush and Minnesota Swarm. In his four seasons with the Swarm, Benesch averaged 83 points per season (leading the league in 2011).
Benesch’s passion for lacrosse is year round. In the summer of 2016, playing in his first Mann Cup championship Ryan scored four goals and had two assists to help his Six Nations team capture their third Mann Cup in four years. With the win the Chiefs won the best-of-seven series 4-1 and claimed the men’s senior ‘A’ lacrosse title.
