The Neumann University men’s lacrosse team fell late to La Roche College 14-13 on Monday afternoon in non-conference action.
Ron Lassiter (Interboro) led the Knights with four goals. Adam Fagan (Monsignor Bonner), Ricky Viscue (Father Judge) and Rob Neri (St. Elizabeth’s, DE) each scored two goals. Jeremy Pierson (Washington Township, NJ) and Ryan Lee each notched a goal and an assist. Antonio Gibson (Caesar Rodney) made 10 saves in net. Connor Betts (Bayard Rustin) picked up six ground balls.
The game went back and forth for 60 minutes. Viscuse netted his goal with six seconds left in the first quarter to tie the game at two. Each team would net two more goals in the second quarter and it was tied 4-4 after 30 minutes.
Eleven goals were scored in the third quarter. Neumann took a 9-8 lead on a Lassiter goal, assisted by Sergio Plesati (Ridley), while a man-up. Thirty seconds later, Lassister connected with Plesati again for a 10-8 lead. The RedHawks scored the last goal of the quarter and the Knights took a one goal lead into the final 15 minutes.
The teams continued to go back and forth in the final quarter. Neri scored with 1:24 left in regulation to put Neumann up 13-12. La Roche was able to net two goals in the final minute to take the back and forth battle 14-13.
