In a back-and-forth game for the ages, Conestoga Youth Lacrosse beat Lionville, 11-10, in overtime to take the CCLA 15A crown last week.

The two teams battled it out for four quarters at Kelly Field in West Chester, with Lionville tying the game in the final minute of regulation. In OT, with 2:44 remaining, Conestoga’s Brendan Murphy (Conestoga HS, ’20) dodged from behind and buried the game winner, stick side high. Murphy had three goals and four assists.

This highlight reel shows both teams’ skills on all sides of the ball and captures the intensity of this great game, played by two great teams. CCLA 15A Championship Game Highlights.

Conestoga finished the season with a 16-1 record, going 13-1 in league play and beating three non-CCLA teams in challenge and tournament play this Spring. Head Coach, Bob Lee, points out the team consisted largely of players rostered on 2015’s 13A team which held a 19-0 record, leaving most players with a 35-1 record over past two years.

“It’s a team made up very talented individuals who bought into and cared about playing as a team,” he said. “Both offensively and defensively, every player contributed to their team’s successes and made their teammates better. The boys are best friends on and off the field, their families are awesome to be around, and its been such a pleasure watching them play and grow up together for the past six years.”

Fifteen of this team’s players will move on to Conestoga HS, while five others will continue their lacrosse careers at Malvern Prep (3), St Joe’s Prep (1) and Shipley (1).
