“I’m excited for our team,” said Lehigh head coach Jill Redfern. “Coach Sammy (Cermack’s) offensive game plan was terrific tonight and Coach Shannon (McHugh) provided an equally great plan for the defensive side. Our girls really knew their personnel really well and delivered on their jobs. So many people played well to execute a great game plan.”
Junior Lauren Beausoleil led the offense with a career-high seven points, including four goals and a career-high three assists. Over the last two games, Beausoleil has now posted 12 points behind nine goals and three assists.
“Lauren was terrific tonight and her confidence was through the roof,” said Redfern. “She put some great shots away. We rely on her all over the field. She was outstanding.”
Junior Allison LaBeau added three goals and two assists while classmate Julianne D’Orazio (Merion Mercy) scored three goals for her first-career hat trick. Senior Kendall Garden also scored twice. Garden and D’Orazio each had two caused turnovers to lead the defense while junior Taylor Tvedt impressed in goal, making nine saves.
“Taylor got off to a great start back there, which is always great for confidence,” said Redfern. “I’m really thrilled with how she played, and our defense in front of her gave her some really good shots to save, too.”
The teams traded goals in the early going before the Mountain Hawks staged a 5-0 run, beginning and ending with goals from Beausoleil to give Lehigh a 6-1 lead with 12:27 left in the first half.
