From Press Release
The University of Pennsylvania women’s lacrosse team will welcome seven new student-athletes to University City this fall, adding six freshmen and one transfer.
“This is a talented group of newcomers,” head coach Karin Corbett said. “We have players coming in from some of the most well-regarded high school and club programs in the country, and we are excited to see how they mesh with the quality players we have returning.”
The Quakers will be adding three midfielders, two defenders and two goalkeepers to their squad in 2016. Penn graduated four defenders, a midfielder, and a goalkeeper from a defensive unit which ranked ninth in the country in scoring defense last year. The Red and Blue will be looking to this group of newcomers to join the returning veterans to help pick up where the Class of 2015 left off.
Altogether, Penn’s incoming class has garnered eight All-American honors – including a pair of Under Armour All-Americans in defender Kristen Adams and Katy Junior. Adams, a two-time All-American, was also named to Inside Lacrosse’s All-ILWomen team this summer. As a group, they hail from Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania.
In addition to the six freshmen, Britt Brown joins the Red and Blue as a transfer from Virginia. A goalkeeper, Brown appeared in three games during the 2014 season for the Cavaliers after earning two All-American nods as a high school player.
Penn’s incoming class will also continue its familial legacy, with Chrissy Corcoran set to join her sister – senior Nina Corcoran – and twins Julia and Lauren O’Mara giving the Quakers a second set of twins on the roster.
