The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association, the local chapter of US Lacrosse, will host its Second Annual High School Awards Recognition Banquet on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Radnor Hotel. Festivities begin at 6:30 pm.us lax

The PLA, working in conjunction with the high school coaches’ organizations – The Eastern Pennsylvania Lacrosse Coaches Association (boys lacrosse) and Pennsylvania Area Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association (girls lacrosse) – is sponsoring the recognition banquet to honor the top boys’ and girls’ lacrosse players in the area, and to recognize other individuals who have made their mark on the 2015 high school lacrosse season.

Honorees at the event, who are invited to attend the banquet and receive their framed award certificates, include the following:

• US Lacrosse All-American selections from the Eastern Pennsylvania region (boys and girls);
• All-EPLCA, EPLCA Coach of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, Man of the Year and Bob Scott Award selections;
• Boys’ Academic All-Americans (Girls’ Academic All-Americans will be listed in the Banquet Program);
• EPLCA League MVPs and Kruse Award recipients;
• Recipients of PASLA’s Jackie Pitts Award, Most Improved Team Award, Scholar Athlete Award, Team Service Award and Rookie of the Year Award;
• PASLA League MVPs (new this year);
• Carole Wakefield Award (presented by the PLA to recognize outstanding contributions in covering girls lacrosse in the region); and
• PASLA Team Sportsmanship Award (presented by the Philadelphia Women’s Lacrosse Umpires Association).

Honorees are invited to attend the banquet free of charge. “Evites” have been sent to honorees via email. Honorees are asked to RSVP the “Evite” as soon as possible to permit the PLA to determine how many tickets can be made available to the general public. A few awards have not been announced; honorees of those awards will be contacted shortly. Again, HONOREES DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE TICKETS; THEY SIMPLY NEED TO RSVP THE INVITATION TO CONFIRM THEIR PLANS. Coaches are encouraged to follow up with honorees to apprise them of the banquet and to make sure they RSVP their “Evites” one way or the other.

A limited number of tickets to the event will be made available to coaches, parents and friends on a first come, first served basis, space permitting. Interested attendees can purchase tickets by visiting the following link – https://squareup.com/market/PLA.

This is an event that brings both the boys’ and girls’ games together in a joint effort to recognize elite high school lacrosse players and others who are deserving of recognition in the Greater Philadelphia region. It promises to be a memorable evening.

We look forward to seeing as many honorees as possible!

About the PLA – The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association is the local chapter of US Lacrosse (www.uslacrosse.com). Representatives from major lacrosse constituencies in the region — youth, high school, college and club lacrosse coaches, referees, summer league organizers, parents and promoters, civic association volunteers — work through the PLA throughout the year to organize and/or sponsor clinics for players, coaches and officials. The PLA conducts fundraising activities (such as the annual PLA Golf Outing), makes grant funding available to new programs (including those in the City of Philadelphia), hosts national team exhibitions, and manages the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame. PLA volunteers have worked diligently over the years to seed and cultivate youth, middle school and high school programs and activities in the Delaware Valley, the Lehigh Valley, Northeastern Pennsylvania and elsewhere. The growth of the game at all levels in our Chapter region not only reflects the dedicated contributions of hundreds of lacrosse enthusiasts but represents, in part, the evolution of a process set in motion and supported by the PLA and US Lacrosse.

About EPLCA (http://www.eplca.org/) – The purposes of the Eastern Pennsylvania Lacrosse Coaches Association it 1) to promote the successful growth of boys’ lacrosse throughout Eastern Pennsylvania; 2) to provide educational opportunities to all past, present, and future boys’ lacrosse coaches; and 3) to properly recognize outstanding performances of High School (HS) players, HS coaches, and supporters of lacrosse in Eastern Pennsylvania.

About PASLA (http://www.paslax.org/) – The Pennsylvania Area Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association is an organization that recognizes and represents High School girls’ lacrosse coaches in member schools in Pennsylvania. Originally this organization was established to help govern the game of lacrosse as well as promote the game through various events, clinics, and funding. Today PASLA helps member coaches and their athletes navigate the US Lacrosse All-American Awards, USL National Tournament, as well as its own PASLA Awards and camp scholarships. The PASLA has close to 120 member schools throughout Eastern Pennsylvania.
