Cole Witman scored late in the second half Sunday to give the Duke’s Lacrosse Club a 4-3 victory over SweetLax in the 2019 championship game of the Liberty Bell Challenge today at Germantown Academy.

Aiden Toko, Andy Murphy and Grant Pinto also scored for the Dukes, who avenged a 10-8 loss to SweetLax in their tournament opener.
“This was a really tough tournament,” said Witman, who will attend Eastern York High School. “The competition was challenging.”
Dukes Head coach Rob Forster said the championship was a testament to the team’s determination.
“Our guys really battled,” said Forster. “They wanted this title.”
Isiah Skidders, Sam Miller and Owen Ronchetti (tying goal) scored for SweetLax after the Dukes seized a 3-0 lead.
But Witman quickly responded with the winning score.
“I played well,” the midfielder said. “But I could have played better. I’m pretty good at dodging and finding the open man, as well as feeding the crease.”
