Senior Meghan Tillger (four goals, three assists), senior Jacq Fitzgerald (three goals, two assists), sophomore Bryn Boylan (four goals, one assist) and senior Elle Ueland (two goals, three assists) led a balanced attack Wednesday as host Central Bucks West defeated Pennsbury 15-8 to force co-champions in the Suburban One National Conference.
The Bucks closed at 8-1 (13-4 overall) to tie with Souderton for the title.
Finley Ueland added a goal and an assist while Maddie Maio added a goal for the Bucks, who won their first league title since 2001.
The win came just two days after a key 12-11 win over Souderton which caused the tie atop the standings.
“The girls came out strong tonight and saw each other well,” West coach Tara Schmucker said. “We solidified being conference co-champs tonight, and that was the ultimate goal.
“I think having this win and being name champs simultaneously is appropriate given that our senior leadership has been a major factor in our success. They set a goal at the start of the school year and achieved that goal. They have remained focused, and despite some ups and downs, they never gave up this season. They are a special group of girls, and the seniors have helped guide our young team.”
For the visiting Falcons, Camille Mumford and Sarah Benzinger led the way with two goals and one assist each. Morgan Snyder added a pair of goals while Missy Frankil had a goal and assist.
