The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association last month made a donation of $3,000 to the US Lacrosse Women’s U19 National Team to recognize the accomplishments of four Philly girls that will represent the team which will compete in the FIL world championships in Edinburgh, Scotland on July 23-Aug. 1.US-lacrosse-Philly

Philly members are defenders Natalie Bulgier (Souderton, 2015), Sarah Platt (Agnes Irwin, 2016) and Hannah Proctor (Radnor, 2015), and 2017 midfielder Chloe Jones (Lawrenceville School).

“Philadelphia has a strong lacrosse tradition, and the PLA historically has supported athletes from the region in connection with their national team activities,”” according to a statement from the PLA acknowledging the donation to the girls. “We are happy to continue that tradition and have made a contribution to the team in your honor.

“We know you and the team will acquit yourselves well in your travels. The Philadelphia lacrosse community stands behind you and Team USA and will be pulling for you in your campaign to bring home the gold in 2015.”

Team USA will compete for a fifth consecutive world title at the FIL Under-19 World Championships. The U.S. has claimed the past four gold medals in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011, most recently defeating Australia 14-11 in Hannover, Germany, in July 2011.
