From Press Release
In only three years, the Boys Showcase Camp by NXT at Saint Joseph’s University has blossomed into one of the summer’s elite individual events.
The popularity has skyrocketed every year with both players and college recruiters, with more than 20 Division I schools attending last year’s event. With that in mind, NXT decided to expand to two showcase camps this summer at SJU.
The reason behind adding a second session was easy. In the first few years of the Showcase Camp, we’ve had four age groups from rising freshmen to rising seniors. In recent years, we saw a trend of more rising freshmen attend the event to prove themselves against elite competition. Sometimes, though, it can be tough for a freshman to go up against a senior. The freshmen could compete – Griffin Gelinas was a Fab 40 All-Star that committed to Syracuse only months later before attending the Philly Freshman Showcase – but NXT thought a change was appropriate.
This time around, we we will have Session I for 2016s and 2017s from June 24-26. This allows coaches to look at only those two age group of players to showcase their skills and get a chance to improve their game along the way. From July 27-29, we will host the first Session II for 2018s and 2019s. It follows the same format as Session I, but just for a younger age group.
NXT is very excited to see a new crop of players and coaches for the Showcase Camps. Once again, every player is placed on a team coached by a Division I coach and every All-Star gets automatic admission to the highly regarded Philly Showcase in the fall. 2019s All-Stars are offered guaranteed admission into the Freshman Showcase.
