The Nike Philly Freshman Showcase and Boys Philly Showcases are almost here.
Only a few days remain before the biggest lacrosse recruiting weekend of the year happens when the Philly Showcase Weekend takes center stage. The Philly Showcase Kickoff gets everything going on Friday night with Denver coach Bill Tierney headlining the first-year event.
Boys Philly Showcase
There’s not a single bigger event in the lacrosse recruiting world than the Philly Showcase, which takes place at Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square. Nearly 500 of the country’s best freshmen will be in attendance in front of coaches from most of the country’s top schools. Here’s the first pre-event story for the Philly Showcase as I break down some of the players that I think will have the biggest impact.
2017
Attack
Ryan Lipsky, Wando (S.C.), Top Left Loggerheads: This Southern Showcase alum pumped in a ton of goals three weeks ago. How will he follow that performance up?
Niko Gekas, Roswell (Ga.), LB3 Atlanta: Gekas made big time plays at the Southern Showcase Camp, but now, he’ll be playing even harder to try to find a future home.
Freshmen Showcase
There’s not a single bigger event for freshmen than the Freshman Showcase, which takes place at United Sports in Downingtown. More than 240 of the country’s best freshmen will be in attendance in front of coaches from most of the country’s top schools. Here’s the first pre-event story for the Freshman Showcase as I break down some of the players that I think will have the biggest impact.
Who’s NXT?
Robert Almand, Midfield, Vandegrift (Texas), Iron Horse, Highlights: Robert has great size and range on his shot. He should be one of the best middies in attendance.
Tommy Bavuso, Defense, Rumson Fair Haven (N.J.), Leading Edge, Highlights: Stud at our Philly Showcase Camp who has continued to turn heads this fall. Tall and rangy defender who is always in gloves.
