NXT is pleased to announce the launch of the Mid-Atlantic Lacrosse League, a youth spring league that gets underway in the spring of 2015 and will feature teams from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Teams with players in grades 5-8 comprise the original schedule, which begins March 15.

All games are played on Sundays throughout the spring at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken.Leagues

“We’re excited to launch this league at an elite venue like the Proving Grounds,” NXT President and CEO Andy Hayes said. “We expect this to be an incredibly competitive league geared toward highly skilled players who want to develop their game and test themselves against top-notch competition every week. The teams that will be in the league all have a reputation for always having strong, competitive teams, which was a huge selling point in putting together this league.”

The league is split into a AA and an A division with PA’s NXT LC, Mesa Fresh Fever, Bucks Select, LB3, Rising Sons, Freedom, Roughriders. Uprising and Stars and Stripes, and New Jersey’s Black Storm and Leading Edge fielding teams in at least two divisions. Players are only eligible to play on one team. Limited spots in select age groups remain. Players are only eligible to play on one team. Limited spots in select age groups remain.

Games are 12-minute running quarters with a minute-long break in between quarters and a five-minute halftime. Teams play nine regular season games before a two-day playoff weekend that determines the league champion. Certified trainers and certified referees will be at every game. Players also have the opportunity to learn and fine-tune their game via a pair of clinics throughout the 12 weeks.

The league also features a website that will host all of the latest up-to-date information and league promotion. Eighth grade games will be filmed by Next Level Video, NXT’s official video partner.

“The Proving Grounds is thrilled to be the host venue of the Mid-Atlantic Lacrosse League,” Proving Grounds CEO Paul Tornetta said. “Working with NXT, the country’s fastest-growing youth sports company, is a huge boost for us and we couldn’t be more excited to have so many of the area’s top young lacrosse players play on our new state-of-the-art fields.”

The league uses modified Federation rules with minor tweaks to encourage faster play. There is limited contact with an emphasis on player safety, especially when it comes to head contact and unsportsmanlike play.
