Aaron McCartney

High School: Downingtown East High School

Graduation Year: 2016

Position: Defense

College Choice: Ithaca College

Club Affiliation:
Philadelphia Freedom

Major lacrosse honors, camps and showcases:
1st Team All- Match, Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip, Penn Star U-13

What will you major in/study? Physical Therapy

Why did you choose school? “Ithaca College was an easy choice for me. The great opportunity of playing for a coach like Coach Jeff Long while studying at a top physical therapy school was impossible to turn down.”

Thoughts on your HS team’s season? Though we did lose a very talented senior class, Coach Cliggett and the rest of the coaching staff will have us prepared and ready to contend for another league championship in the always competitive Ches-Mont.”

Thank You: “First, I would like to thank my parents for the countless hours they put into supporting my lacrosse career, helping me to be where I am today. Also, I would like to thank my high school coaches, Todd Cliggett, Pete Carozza, Pat Cullinan, and Brendan Staudt, for all the guidance and support with this process.

“Also, thank you to my Freedom coaches, Kevin Goforth and Vincent Bonaddio, for the support with this process. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to all my youth coaches. I was very lucky to be taught the right way to play under some great coaches. Coach Bob Miller, Coach Alan Butcher, and Coach Charlie Rafferty all were very influential in my lacrosse career and I would not be the same player or person without them.

“Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Dave Ellison for introducing the game to me at a young age and teaching me how to play.”
