NXTsports has continued its unparalleled commitment to youth sports safety by appointing Dr. Anne Colton as NXT’s first Medical Director.
In her role, Dr. Colton will be tasked with overseeing NXT’s medical personnel and reviewing all of NXT’s policies and procedures. She will work hand-in-hand with Director of Participant Health and Safety Ellis Mair to ensure optimal medical and safety procedures are implemented for all athletes participating in NXT’s educational programs and events.
“NXT is dedicated to the health and safety of all its participants. We strive for excellent patient care through our safety initiative and I am honored and excited to be working with Dr. Anne Colton,” Mair said.
“She has an extensive sports medicine background that will allow NXT to become a leader in the youth sports medicine field. She has worked with athletes from professional sports teams to local Philadelphia high schools. Dr. Colton is an outstanding addition to NXT in its effort to become leader in the youth sports medicine field.”
Dr. Colton serves as a Surgical Orthopedics Physician for Premier Orthopaedics, NXT’s official orthopaedic partner. She was a former Division I basketball player at the University of New Hampshire before graduating from medical school at Temple and completing her Orthopedic Surgery residency at Penn.
Dr. Colton is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and she is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society and the Philadelphia Orthopaedic Society.
She formerly worked with the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and MLB’s Chicago White Sox and also formerly served as the team physician for the Philadelphia Independence of Women’s Professional Soccer. She is also the head team physician for Marple Newtown and Garnet Valley High Schools, as well as Delaware Christian Academy.
