From Press Release
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team has been hard at work this fall, preparing for two weekends of events in October. The Mountain Hawks will begin next Friday with Community Night and an Alumni Game before competing in the HEADstrong Saint Joseph’s Fall Tournament eight days later.
“Our goal for the fall lacrosse season is to get our freshmen acclimated to the speed of the game and educate them on our base schemes,” said Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese. “It also serves as a review for our upperclassmen and as a vehicle for players to emerge, solidify spots and/or step into leadership roles. The fall season is also an ideal time to build team chemistry, reinforce team standards and develop team goals for the spring season.”
The fall schedule begins on Friday, Oct. 2 when the Mountain Hawks host Community Night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Youngsters are then welcome to catch the 2015-16 Mountain Hawks in action for the first time as the current team faces alumni in a scrimmage at 8 p.m.
Lehigh will head to Philadelphia the following weekend, facing Villanova at 2 p.m. and Saint Joseph’s at 3:30 p.m.
The Mountain Hawks feature a young team after graduating 12 seniors from a season ago. Among Lehigh’s top returnees are 51-point scorer Reid Weber who tallied 38 goals and 13 assists last season. Senior All-League defenseman Casey Eidenshink returns, as does junior Casey McAdam and sophomore Matt Ernst at the faceoff X, and sophomore goalkepeer Adam Sawicki, who started seven games last season. Lehigh welcomes 15 freshmen to the roster as part of a freshmen class ranked 19th in the nation by Inside Lacrosse.
