Rachel Warden broke a 13-13 tie and host Garnet Valley held on to defeat Springfield-Delco, 15-14, Thursday in the District 1 fifth-place consolation game, giving the Jaguars the district’s final PIAA playoff berth.
Garnet Valley (13-9), which is the defending champion and has won three of the last four states titles, will open PIAA play Wednesday against the District 12 winner, either Archbishop Carroll or Franklin Towne Charter.
Maddi O’Brien and Maddie Mansi each scored four goals for the Jags.
Emily Santana had six goals for the Cougars, who closed at 17-5.
