Stephen Tobia scored the game-winner with 1:09 to play to give visiting St. Joseph’s Prep a 9-8 victory over St. Augustine Prep on Monday.
Tobia’s goal capped a brilliant rally for the Hawks (12-5), who came back from deficits of 6-3 and 8-5.
The Hermits (11-4) had take a 6-3 lead when Kevin Stump (three goals) scored twice (once off a Tobia feed) to make it 6-5 in the third period. The Hermits scored twice to open up the 8-5 lead, but Andrew Watts (one goal, three assists) and Mike Shapiro made it 8-7 before Alex Scalamandre (two goals) tied it with just over 2 minutes to play.
Mike Marchese made 11 saves and Dan Fisher was a standout at the face-off X, winning 14 of 19 including 11 of 12 in the second half.
Jared Chiachetti, Brad Meister and Joe Eisele led the Hermits with two goals each and Charlie Kitchen had a goal and two assists while Ernie Alvino posted nine saves.
