Sacred Heart University sophomore midfielder Caitlin Delaney (Cherry Hill East) was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week for her impressive performance Saturday in an 11-2 loss to rival Fairfield.

Delaney wasted no time in following up her stellar rookie campaign as she led the Pioneers in every statistical category for field players. On the offensive side, Delaney recorded an assist and scored the final goal of the game for the Pioneers. On the defensive end, Delaney scooped up four ground balls, caused four turnovers, and recorded two draw controls.

In 2014 Delaney was the Pioneers’ leader in ground balls, draw controls, and caused turnovers, 26. She finished as the team’s second leading scorer, with 29 points.
