From Press Release
The University of Pennsylvania announced nine additions to its women’s lacrosse program as members of the Class of 2018 today. Head Coach Karin Corbett will welcome nine newcomers to her lineup as the Quakers look to add a ninth consecutive Ivy League championship to their Ivy-record run.
“I am excited about this incoming class,” Corbett said. “Our program is coming off an exciting and historic year, and these nine young women will all be able to come right in and contribute to the continued success of our group. Each is a dynamic talent on the field and an outstanding contributor in the classroom and they will carry on our tradition of cultivating complete student-athletes at Penn.”
The group hails from five states and the District of Columbia, including Penn’s first-ever recruit from the State of California.
Four players have earned high school All-American honors during their prep careers, and three have earned Academic All-American honors.
Championship pedigree will continue for the Red and Blue as the group has combined for four state championships during their high school careers and another 18 league, district or region titles.
The Quakers will return 26 players from its 2014 Ivy League championship team, including 11 who started 12 or more games. In addition, 2013 Ivy League Midfielder of the Year Shannon Mangini is expected to return from an injury which sidelined her for the entirety of 2014.
