From Press Release
Senior men’s lacrosse student-athlete Corey Elmer (Conrad Weiser) headlines a group of seven Cavaliers named to the list of United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-Americans, the organization announced. The seven awards tie last season’s honors for the most in a single season in the program’s 20 seasons, bring Cabrini’s total number of lacrosse All-Americans to 43.
The program’s third First Team All-American, Elmer becomes the first player in school history to receive two USILA First Team All-American accolades after earning the honor last year. Junior Damian Sobieski (Avon Grove) joins Casey Grugan as the program’s only Second Team all-Americans, while seniors JoJo Cooper, Mac Feiner and Matt Ward (Great Valley) join juniors Anthony DiSanzo and Mike Leyden (Haverford High) with Honorable Mention.

Elmer closed his career with his second consecutive record setting campaign, posting 115 points on 59 goals and 56 assists. His 115 points and 56 assists are the most in a single season in program history, making him the only Cavalier to surpass 100 points or 50 goals in a season. Elmer’s 115 points are the most in Division III and rank third among all NCAA student-athletes behind only Albany’s Lyle and Miles Thompson.
The 2014 CSAC Player of the Year, Elmer ranked second in the nation in points per game (6.05), fifth in assists per game (2.95) and 19th in goals (3.11). Elmer tallied at least seven points in 10 of the club’s games, including an astounding 13 points on seven goals and six assists in an 18-8 win at Marywood. He also matched a program record six assist in wins over Centenary and Marywood in the CSAC championship.
This is the second USILA All-American honor for Sobieski, who earned Honorable Mention in 2013. The junior set a new program record with 73 goals to lead the Blue and White, while his 89 points are fifth most on Cabrini’s single season list. Sobieski’s 73 goals are the third most among all NCAA lacrosse players and good for third in Division III in goals per game (3.84).
Sobieski was named Most Valuable Player of the 2014 CSAC Championship game after posting a career high nine points and matching a career best with seven goals. The junior posted at least two points in every game this season, including seven goals against Gwynedd-Mercy, Centenary and Marywood.
Cooper earned USILA All-American Honorable Mention and All-CSAC First Team after pairing six goals and four assists. The senior’s 38 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers were both tied for sixth on the team. Cooper ranks 11th on Cabrini’s all-time ground ball list with 150, while his 38 caused turnovers rank ninth.
Feiner rebounded for a career threatening injury to close his career with All-CSAC First Team honors. The senior’s 16 caused turnovers were tied for third on the club to go with his 25 ground balls. Feiner caused a career high four turnovers in a 17-5 win over then No. 19 Gettysburg.
In his only season in the Blue and White, Ward made an immediate impact, as his 17 caused turnovers were second on the team. The senior accounted for three caused turnovers three times, including wins over then No. 6 Dickinson, Neumann and then No. 17 Mary Washington.
After earning USILA Honorable Mention in 2013, DiSanzo posted 47 goals in 2014, good for fifth on the team. The junior’s 40 goals and 42 ground balls both ranked fourth on the club. DiSanzo netted at least three goals in 10 of his 18 games, including matching a career high six goals in a 20-11 victory over then No. 10 Ithaca.
Leyden earned All-CSAC First Team recognition after ranking third on the team with 71 points, 47 goals, 24 assists and 46 ground balls. The junior tallied at least five points in nine of his 19 games, including seven points in a 25-4 win at Rosemont and six in Cabrini’s CSAC semifinal and championship victories.
The Cavaliers capped the 2014 season with the program’s 14th consecutive CSAC title and extended its conference win streak to 102 games, tying the NCAA record. The Blue and White ended the campaign with a 17-2 mark, tied for the most wins in program history.
