Top-seeded and top-ranked Malvern Prep faces second-ranked and second-seeded Haverford School tonight at 7:00 at Cabrini College in the Inter-Ac Invitational championship game.
The Friars defeated Lawrenceville School 14-5 and Haverford School beat Episcopal Academy 16-8 Friday to force a classic No. 1-vs.-No. 2 matchup at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
Malvern Prep (23-0) earns its fourth attempt to win the elusive and prestigious Inter-Ac Invitational title while The Haverford School (20-5) returns for its sixth consecutive trip. Malvern will look to stay unbeaten this season, knowing Haverford has never lost an Inter-Ac final to the Friars. Last year, the Fords defeated Malvern 13-11.

The top-seeded Malvern Prep Friars bested the fifth-ranked Lawrenceville School Big Red after falling behind 2-0 early in the first quarter. The Friars then went on a 10-0 run to take control and secure the win. This will be their fourth trip to the championship in six years. Malvern Prep’s Ryan Hilburn was the YBH Audi-Volkswagen Star of the Game, scoring five goals, with one assist and four groundballs.
In the second semifinal, the second-seeded Haverford School Fords upended the three seed Episcopal Academy Churchmen 16-8. Both teams engaged in a tightly-contested first half, with Haverford just managing to gain a three goal edge at the break. The Fords never relinquished their lead in the second half and were able to earn a sixth consecutive trip to the finals. Phil Poquie was named the YBH Audi-Volkswagen Star of the Game, scoring four goals for the Haverford School.
