Thursday’s HS boys’ roundup: Penncrest tops Springfield-Delco; Radnor, SH, GV, LM win in Central League

Drew Hanna had four goals and two assists and Dylan Protesto won 13 of 18 face-offs and scored once to help host Penncrest topple Springfield-Delco, 11-4, today in a key Central league boys’ lacrosse game.

The Lions, ranked No. 7 by Phillylacrosse.com, improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Central league. Springfield-Delco, No. 8, fell to 4-1 and 3-1.

“This was a statement win,” said Penncrest coach Wayne Matsinger. “We had a lot of assists.

“They were keying on some of our guys and we passed well. They also made some penalties early that hurt them.”

Ethan Trusty added two goals and an assist and Will Manganiello had a goal and two assists for Penncrest. Dylan McCleaft made 8 saves

Luke Charamella had two goals for Springfield-Delco.

Radnor 7, Ridley 4

Jack Fischer tallied three goals, Owen Scheuerle had two and Alex Anderson posted eight saves while Tom Meyers won 11 of 15 face-offs for Radnor.

Strath Haven 15, Marple Newtown 7

Bryan Mizell had four goals and three assists, while Tucker Carney, Kevin Murphy and Nolan DiRienzi each posted three goals and Ethan Fink made 11 saves for the Panthers.
Tom Higgins had three goals for the Tigers.

Garnet Valley 15, Haverford High 11

Matt Moore scored four goals, and Brandon Dowd, Christian Portale and Dan Ferreri each chipped in a pair of goals as the Jaguars won an offensive shootout.

Owen Green scored six goals for the Fords

Lower Merion 16, Upper Darby 3

Daniel Buckman had six goals and four assists for the Aces.

Avon Grove 15, Unionville 6

Eric Russo (4g, 1a), Ryan Cook (3g, 3a), and Stephen Cyron (3g) led a balanced attack for the Devils.

Winslow Davis had four goals for Unionville.

Bishop Shanahan 11, Downingtown East 2

Alex Wagner had three goals and an assist and John Mehok and Dylan Alderman each scored twice while Jason Yoquinto posted 10 saves as the Eagles soared to a key Ches-Mont League victory.

La Salle 6, Archbishop Ryan 2

Anthony Giuliani won 10 of 11 face-offs and Colin MacDougall made 12 saves for the Explorers in the Catholic League win.

Mark Ostaszewski posted 11 saves for Ryan.
