Karalyn Joseph scored the winning goal with a little over two minutes to play Saturday as host Cape Henlopen defeated host Academy of Holy Cross of MD, 7-6, to open its season.
Joseph also won the last two draws of the game for the five-time defending state champions. Kat Judge and Tess Berheimer guarded Holy Cross’s top scorer and held her scoreless. Goalie Sam Broadhurst was the key to Cape’s win, posting 13 saves while making good clears.

Four goals each by Kennedy Murphy and Katelyn Payne, and two by Presley Conaty paced the Lady Auks.
Caravel Academy 23, AI duPont 8
Five goals by Abigail Reed, four goals each by Lauren Phillips and OIivia Duarte, and three by Samantha Ringler paced the Lady Bucs of Caravel Academy to a win over the Lady Tigers. For the Lady Tigers, Elizabeth Shields led with five goals.
Concord 13, Newark 1
Six goals by Heather Estle and four goals by Madaleine Davis paced the Lady Raiders to a win over the Lady Yellowjackets.
Polytech 7, Sussex Tech 6
Three goals by Kathryn Richardson two by Rebecca Shirey along with the game winning goal by Jamie Trabaudo paced the Lady Panthers to an overtime win over the Lady Ravens. For the Lady Ravens, Dorian Zimmerman led with five goals.
Ursuline Academy 17, Red Lion Christian Academy 6
Three goals by Madaleine Hughes, and two each by Lexi Goldberg and Brooke Schmeusser paced the Lady Raiders.
Mt. Pleasant 15, St. Thomas More Academy 9
Seven goals by Alexa Moore, four by Kate Walker and three by Ryan Taylor paced the Lady Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant to a 15-9 win over the Lady Ravens. For the Lady Ravens, Joanna Petrosky led with four goals and teammate Katie McMahon with three.

Cape Henlopen was defeated by Bullis School from MD by a 10-6 score. Cape was led by John Benson and Todd Keen with two goals each.
Chestnut Hill Academy (PA) 7, St. Mark’s 5
St. Mark’s was defeated by Chestnut Hill Academy by a 7-5 score. Dalton Ziemba led the Spartans with two goals.
William Penn 11, Mt. Pleasant 4
Seven goals by Davonte Sesco, and two each by Ramazan Arslan and Jesse Bryce paced the Colonials to a win over the Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant.
Caesar Rodney 17, Middletown 5
Six goals each by Luke Rankin and teammate David Schmidt paced the Riders to a win over the Cavaliers. Dylan Suarez led the Cavaliers with three goals.
Delaware Military Academy 15, Concord 12
Six goals by Paul Wolfe, five by Justin Carroll and three by Michael Weaver paced the Seahawks over the Raiders.

Seven goals by Colin Duffy, three by Benjamin Revak, and two each by Ryan Beatson and teammate Robert Baxter paced the Auks.
Dover 17, North Joppatowne (MD) 4
Four goals each by Ryan McQuaide and Asani Evans, two by Jamir Sinex and Kobe Morris paced the Senators to a win over North Joppatowne.
