The West Chester Daily Local has reported that Great Valley girls’ lacrosse coach Joe Tornetta will not have his contract renewed for the 2015 season.

Tornetta has coached the Patriots the past 24 years and led them to Ches-Mont League titles the past three seasons. This year his team reached the District 1 semifinals and the PIAA semifinals while finishing 20-5.

The Daily Local report said that no reason was given for Tornetta’s dismissal because the decision is a personnel matter originating from a letter by Great Valley Superintendent Alan Lonoconus.

Tornetta also will not return as head field hockey coach, the report said.

Tornetta, 54, was suspended for six days after his Patriots lost a third-place District 1 consolation game to Harriton, the report said.
