Rankel (Downingtown West) hired as defensive coordinator at Missouri Valley College

Downingtiown West graduate Tyler Rankel, a recent alum of Robert Morris, has been named a Graduate Assistant/Defensive Coordinator at upcoming program Missouri Valley College.

MVC went 15-2 last year in its first year of play in MCLA Division II and reached the national tournament under head coach Kevin Totaro.

Rankel earned All-Ches-Mont League honors in 2010 when he led the Whippets to their first Ches-Mont League title.

Rankel was a regular at LSM and defense at Robert Morris and was an All-NEC Rookie pick in 2011 and an NEC Second Team pick in 2014. Over his four years at RMU Rankel amassed 96 ground balls, 60 caused turnovers, 3 goals and 7 assists. While at Robert Morris Rankel was a member of the NEC All-academic team all 4 years.

In 2014 he earned his Bachelor’s degree from RMU in Business with a concentration in sports management.

Rankel has coached many teams from youth to high school players for such teams as South Fayette, Philly Lacrosse, Team Baggataway as well as Team HEADstrong (where he played in High School and to this day remains very involved with the club). He also is a private trainer for players in his area.
