The Central League opens play Tuesday as the high school season kicks into gear – cold weather, or even snow, or not.

The most intriguing games are No. 2 Harriton at No. 6 Springfield-Delco and No. 3 Garnet Valley at No. 7 Strath Haven. Harriton, Springfield and Strath Haven are three of the four teams that shared the league title last year. Girls’ Rankings

1. Moorestown (0-0) Prev: No. 1 The Quakers open Thursday at Rancocas Valley as they seek to extend a 51-game win streak.girls rankings

2. Harriton (0-2) Prev: No. 2 – The Rams hope to profit from their two losses to mighty McDonogh School (MD) and host Vero Beach in a challenging Florida trip. They have little time to recover as they play Tuesday at Springfield-Delco.

3. Garnet Valley (1-0) Prev: No. 3- The Jaguars opened with a 16-12 win over Unionville and face a big Central League opener Tuesday at Strath Haven.

4. Radnor (1-0) Prev: No. 4 – The Red Raiders have a big Central League game Thursday at Garnet Valley.

5. Shawnee (0-0) Prev: No. 5 – The Renegades advanced to their First Tournament of Champions final last year when they fell to arch-rival Moorestown. They should again be one of the top challengers in New Jersey.

6. Springfield-Delco (2-0) Prev: No. 6 – The Cougars host Harriton Tuesday in an early Central League showdown.

7. Strath Haven (1-0) Prev: No. 7 – The Panthers host Garnet Valley Tuesday in another early Central League showdown.

8. Archbishop Carroll (2-0) Prev: No. 8 – The Patriots won twice in Florida, topping Ovieda (15-11) and Winter Springs (12-9).

9. Episcopal Academy (2-1) Prev: No. 10 – EA defeated Georgia powers Walton (13-12) and Lassiter (15-5) before bowing, 12-2, to nationally-ranked St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (VA) in a Florida trip to open the season.

10. Boyertown (0-0) Prev: No. 11- The Bears open PAC-10 and season play today against Owen J. Roberts.

11. Agnes Irwin (2-0) Prev: NR – The Owls defeated Friends’ Central (20-7) and Conestoga (18-14) to stamp themselves as a contender in the Inter-Ac League.

12. Cape Henlopen (1-0) Prev: No. 13 – The Vikings opened with a 7-6 win over Holy Cross (MD).

13. Unionville (0-1) Prev: No. 14 – The Indians gave No. 3 Garnet Valley a battle in falling, 16-12.

14. Germantown Academy (1-0) Prev: No. 15 – The Patriots opened with a 14-6 Inter-Ac League win over Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

15. Great Valley (1-0) Prev: NR The Patriots face a big test Saturday when they play at Boyertown.
