Malvern Prep weathered two major challenges last week, defeating No. 3 Salesianum School, 6-5, and then No. 4 Avon Grove, 11-10, in overtime. The Inter-ac league season opens this week.
1. Malvern Prep (6-0) Prev: No. 1- The Friars prepare for their Inter-Ac League opener Friday at Germantown Academy by playing Tuesday at La Salle.
2. Haverford School (4-2) Prev: No. 2- The Fords scored a major comeback win (9-8) Saturday over St. Paul’s (MD) at the PNC Invitational. They open Inter-Ac play Friday at home vs. Episcopal Academy.
3. Salesianum School (0-1) Prev: No. 3- The Sals, coming off the 6-5 loss to Malvern Prep, begin play in Delaware Wednesday at Wilmington Friends.
4. Avon Grove (1-1) Prev: No. 4- The Red Devils gave Malvern Prep all it could handle on Saturday. They open Ches-Mont play Tuesday at West Chester East and host Ridley Saturday in the HEADstrong Rivalry Games.
5. Conestoga (2-1) Prev: No. 5 – The Pioneers have a key Central League game Tuesday at Springfield-Delco.
6. Bishop Shanahan (1-0) Prev: No. 6- The Eagles host Downingtown East Thursday in a key Ches-Mont League game.
7. Penncrest (4-0) Prev: No. 7- The Lions have two tough Central League foes this week, Tuesday at Garnet Valley and Thursday vs. Springfield-Delco.
8. Springfield-Delco (3-0) Prev: No. 9- The Cougars will find out a lot about themselves this week as they host Conestoga Tuesday and play Thursday at Penncrest.
9. Central Bucks East (3-1) Prev: No. 10- The Patriots play today at Hatboro-Horsham (6 p.m.), their perennial Suburban One Continental rival.
10. Downingtown East (2-1) Prev: No. 8- The Cougars host Great Valley Tuesday and play at Bishop Shanahan thursday in a big week of Ches-Mont games.
11. St. Joseph’s Prep (2-1) Prev: No. 13- The Hawks had a big week with wins over Loyola Blakefield (MD) and Radnor; it gets even tougher Tuesday when they host Haverford School.
12. Upper Dublin (2-1) Prev: No. 12- The Cards have a big non-league game Thursday at neighboring Abington.
13. La Salle (0-2) Prev: No. 11- The Explorers have loaded up their non-league schedule with the toughest of foes. They host No. Malvern Prep on Tuesday.
14. Radnor (3-1) Prev: No. 14- The Raiders host Ridley Thursday in the Central League.
15. Ridley (4-0) Prev: No. 15- The Green Raiders play Tuesday at Strath Haven and Thursday at Radnor in the Central League.
