The 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft will be held on Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the Philadelphia Marriott’s Liberty Ballroom. This will mark the 14th Collegiate Draft in MLL History. The event will take place during the 2014 US Lacrosse National Convention at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. The draft is free and open to the public.
Several MLL players and coaches are expected to be at the US Lacrosse Convention providing clinics and demos for fans in attendance. New York Lizards head coach Joe Spallina, former MLL standouts Tom Marechek and Paul Cantabene as well as New York Lizards FOGO Greg Gurenlian (Springfield-Delco, Penn State), Boston Cannons star Ryan Boyle and perennial All-Star Matt Striebel are just a few of the names with MLL ties who will be active participants in the convention.
Philly players are expected to be selected high in the first round. Some of the biggest names include Duke attackman Jordan Wolf (Lower Merion), Penn State goalie Austin Kaut (Springfield-Delco) and Princeton midfielder Tom Schreiber. Wolf and Kaut were the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Players of the Year in 2010.
The Collegiate Draft will be streamed LIVE via MLL’s YouTube Channel with CBS Sports Network MLL analyst and Inside the MLL host Evan Washburn and ESPN Lacrosse analyst Quint Kessenich bringing you all the action.
The draft can also be heard LIVE via MLL Radio with LaxDirt’s Tim Thomas and Laxworm’s Mike Sportini on the call and additional analysis from LaxDirt’s Tom Bovee.
MLL fans will also be able to follow the draft through Major League Lacrosse’s various social Media platforms on Twitter (@MLL_Lacrosse Hashtag #MLLDraft) and on Facebook (/MajorLeagueLacrosse). Phillylacrosse.com (@phillylacrosse) will be tweeting for the first few rounds.
