The Cabrini men’s lacrosse improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2004 with today’s 17-5 win over visiting Gettysburg.
Senior Corey Elmer (Conrad Weiser) led the Cavaliers with five goals and three assists and junior Mike Leyden (Haverford High) contributed three goals and two assists. Anthony DiSanzo added three goals and Tyler Johnston (Ridley) added two goals and two assists for the Cavs.
Damian Sobieski (Avon Grove) also scored twice and Anthony DiNenno (Avon Grove) won 15 of 22 face-offs. Hank Altschuler (Lower Merion) made five saves in goal. Mac Feiner led the defense with four groundballs and four caused turnovers.
For Gettysburg (2-3), Jake Adoni (Germantown Academy) made five saves and yielded 12 goals.
Roger Williams 8, Swarthmore 7, OT
Will Siefert scored in overtime to lift the visitors (4-1) to the win.
Brendan Conway led the Garnet (1-3) with two goals and Andrew preiser had a goal and two assists.
Gwynedd Mercy 11, DeSales 9
Behind a career-high seven points from sophomore Tony McCraw, Gwynedd Mercy defeated DeSales..
McCraw scored five goals and added two assists while adding eight groundballs and winning 6-of-7 faceoffs. Junior Nico Belardo (Northern Burlington) netted two goals while dishing out three assists.
Montclair 18, Ursinus 11
Nationally-ranked Montclair State closed the game on a 6-0 run as the Red Hawks (5-0) defeated Ursinus (2-2) in men’s lacrosse play. The Bears, who are receiving votes in this week’s poll, had rallied from a three goal deficit in the third quarter to get within one before 14th-ranked Montclair scored six straight to seal the win.
Ursinus got three goals and an assist from sophomore attack Logan Panaccione and two goals and two assists from junior attack Mike Neal.
