Agnes Irwin held off a late-game rally and defeated visiting Germantown Friends, 12-11, Wednesday in a Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association semifinal.

Top-seeded Agnes Irwin (22-1) has won nineteen straight games and will play Friends School League runner-up Friends’ Central in Friday’s championship game at Radnor’s Memorial Field (3 p.m., field located next to Archbishop Carroll). Friends’ Central edged Baldwin School, 11-10.

Agnes Irwin and Germantown Friends – the Friends Schools champion – were tied at half-time, but AIS freshman Daniela Wright buried a feed from senior captain Bridget Chakey to start a second half rally that would become a five-goal lead at the five minute mark. GFS chipped away and pulled within one goal with 2:03 to play, but a turnover and a save by freshman goalie Hailey Andress preserved the win.

Wright led all AIS scorers with three goals and Chakey scored twice to go with her six assists. Sophomores Kristin Burnetta and Emily Fryer both had two goals and the AIS defense of senior captain Elizabeth Spitz, sophomores Kate White and Sarah Platt, senior Morgan Pergolini, Fryer and freshman Alicia O’Neil combined for seven caused turnovers and three interceptions.

Friends’ Central 11, Baldwin 10

Emma Dahle collected seven goals, two assists and three caused turnovers and Abby Crowley had the game-winner to lead the Phoenix (14-9) into the title game.

Lorna Macfarlane (five draw controls and four caused turnovers) led the defense for Friends’ Central.

Ali Thaler had three goals, four draw controls and two groundballs for Baldwin while Ive Gonzalez had three goals, three assists and three groundballs.
