Upper Dublin sophomore midfielder/attackman Nick Vernacchio has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at St. Joseph’s University.

Nick Vernacchio log:

Nick Vernacchio
Nick Vernacchio

High school: Upper Dublin High School

Graduation year:
2016

Position:
Middie/Attack

College choice: St Joseph’s University

Club affiliations: Mesa Fresh, Phillie Elite, and Dukes

Major lacrosse honors, showcases:
All-League Honors as a Freshman, Blue Chip, Legacy Tournament All-Star, 2013 Dick’s National Champion

Service Projects: Preparation and Service of meals at Ronald McDonald House, Tutoring of inner city students.

What will you major in/study: Biology/Science

Why did you choose school: “St. Joe’s offered everything that I wanted in a college. The campus, being on the smaller side, felt like home and offered a great sense of family and dedication to something greater than myself (the magis). Coach (Taylor) Wray and Coach (Daniel) Keating have high aspirations of building the lacrosse program to achieve National recognition and I am excited to be a part of that development.”

Outlook for your high school team: “We lost numerous key seniors that led our team last year. However, we are looking to fill their roles with a strong group of underclassmen and aim to win another league title and hopefully make a run for the district title.”

Other comments: “I owe a lot of thanks to all of my coaches. Especially, Coach Dave Sowers, who introduced me to the sport and nurtured my development; also, Coach JP Banks, my current high school and Phillie Elite coach, who was instrumental in my recruiting process and my continued improvement as a player. Additionally, I would like to thank Coach Jason Christmas and Coach Ebe Helm from Dukes and Coach Adam Mueller from Mesa Fresh for all of their coaching and support through the years. Most of all I want to give a special thanks to my parents for their tireless support and help in the process of reaching my goals on and off the field.”

Other school considered:
Georgetown, Villanova, Dartmouth
