Three goals each by junior midfielder Kitty Dawson, senior attack Amber Moyer and freshman attack Emma Ebert (Penn Charter) was more than enough for the Ursinus College women’s lacrosse team on Monday afternoon, earning a 15-10 win over Cabrini at ER Dixon Field.
Freshman midfielder Jayme Verman continued her hot start, scoring two goals and assisting on five goals on the afternoon. Senior midfielder Nicole Kovacs scored twice, while sophomore attack Jessica Hill and sophomore midfielder Mary Deliberti each scored as Ursinus (2-1) scored 15 goals on 26 shots.
Junior Lacie Doubet (Ridley) led the Cavaliers with four goals. Junior Melissa Scanzano (Haverford High) added two goals and two assists.
Ursinus scored seven of the game’s first eight goals, jumping out to a 7-1 lead with 12:57 left when Dawson scored her third straight goal.
After Cabrini (0-2) cut it to 10-7 with a goal 2:22 into the second half, Ursinus put the game away with four straight goals, three of which came from the stick of Moyer.
Ursinus scored six of its goals on free position shots on eight attempts, with Moyer, Dawson, Verman and Ebert all connecting on their attempts.
Defensively, senior midfielder Caroline Cannon had three caused turnovers along with five ground balls with Deliberti picking up five draw controls.
Sophomore goalkeeper Margaret Philbin had ten saves on the day, moving to 2-1 on the season.
“I thought we played really hard the whole game I was excited we came back,” said Lehigh head coach Jill Redfern. “We had a few lulls where we had some execution things not go our way, but we fought hard and played tough until the end so I’m proud of that effort.”

Bryant 13, Lehigh 12
A goal by Bryant’s Lisa Vendel in the first overtime period was the difference as Lehigh fell to the Bulldogs at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Lehigh trailed by three goals in the second half an rallied to take a 12-11 lead behind two goals from junior Carli Sukonik (Harriton), but Olivia McCarthy sent the game to overtime with an unassisted goal with 59 seconds remaining before Vendel scored the only goal of overtime.
The loss drops the Mountain Hawks to 3-3 overall while the Bulldogs improve to 4-2.
Senior Chelsea Retaleato and Sukonik led the Mountain Hawk offense with four and three goals respectively. Retaleato’s four tallies were a career-best. Freshman Allison LaBeau added two goals and three assists for a five-point day. Senior goalie and reigning Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week Alex Fitzpatrick, made 14 saves to keep Lehigh in the game.
