Inter-Ac Invitational semifinals: @Fords_Lacrosse defeats @EAboyslacrosse, 16-8

Phil Poquie scored four goals and earned the YBH Audi Volkswagen MVP as Haverford School defeated Episcopal Academy, 16-8, tonight in the Inter-Ac Invitational semifinals at Cabrini College.

The win advances the Fords (20-5) into the title game Monday (7 p.m.) at Cabrini vs. top-seeded Malvern Prep, which downed Lawrenceville School, 14-5.

EA (8-13) took a 2-1 lead early in the game but the Fords led, 6-3, at halftime and never allowed the Churchmen to get closer than four goals.

“It was an awesome game and a great moment,” said Poquie, who is known for his speed and defensive skills.

Grant Ament added three goals and an assist for the Fords while Forry Smith and Connor Keating each had two goals and Brandon Shima scored once and dished five assists.

Curtis Zappala had three goals and two assists and Chris Friedman scored twice while Dutch Buckley had a goal and two assists for the Churchmen.

Haverford has faced Malvern Prep twice this year, falling 8-7 in two overtimes, and 14-9.
