Caroline Mackrides collected five goals, two assists, five groundballs and five caused turnovers to lead visiting Villa Maria Academy to a 14-9 victory today over Merion Mercy, giving the Hurricanes a tie in the loss column for first place in the Catholic Academies League.
Villa Maria is 11-1 in the league (14-2 overall) with two games to play. Merion Mercy is 9-1 in the league and 10-3 overall.
Villa’s victory avenged a 19-8 loss to Merion earlier in the year.
Megan Parsons added three goals, an assist and three draw controls for Villa Maria while Amelia Iacobucci had two goals and an assist. Erika Miller posted 10 saves.
Olivia Nostrant had three goals and Caroline Steller added two goals and two assists for the Bears
