The Strath Haven girls’ lacrosse team opened its Georgia spring break trip by defeating host Walton High, 16-13, Monday in Marietta.
Suzanna Penikis led the Panthers with four goals and two assists and Kathryn Restrepo added three goals and three assists. Kristen Hansen and Bri Irons each scored three goals.
Walton, which got four goals and an assist from Erin McBride and three goals from Riley Ewing, is 10-4. The Panthers (7-2) play at defending state champion and nationally-ranked Milton on Wednesday.
Springfield-Delco 11, Archbishop Carroll 7
Emily Santana collected four goals and three assists and Caitlyn Gormley (two goals) had the game-winner to lead the No. 3 Cougars (7-1) past the No. 4 Patriots.
Emily Paulus added two goals and two assists and Kate Ryan had two goals and one assist for Springfield-Delco.
Avery Murphy tallied three times for the Patriots (6-2).
Good Counsel (MD) 13, Garnet Valley 12
The No. 2 Jaguars (9-1) suffered their first loss to national power Good Counsel, in Maryland, despite four goals by Sabrini Fusco.
Haley Warden added three goals and four assists, while Dana Davis and Madison Valerio added two goals each.
Taylor McDaniels had four goals for Good Counsel.
