A record 240 elite lacrosse players from more than 20 states will receive elite instruction in field and box lacrosse and in the college recruiting scene Monday through Wednesday in the Boys Philly Showcase Camp at St. Joseph’s University.

The event is co-directed by Taylor Wray (St. Joseph’s head coach) and Peter Lawrence (Hartford head coach) and will provide campers with college-level practices and skill-building from a team of 16 college coaches. It also will educate campers about the college recruitment process, NCAA rules, strength training, and nutrition.Showcase-camp

The camp opens Monday with specialized field and box instruction as well as a leadership seminar.

“The unique part of it is that we are seeing it grow as more kids gravitate to camps where they learn skills and not just play games,” said Brett Manney, NXT Director of Showcase Lacrosse. “They are learning to be better leaders, while also learning individual skills in their positions. They also get to practice with their team with college caoches.

“These coaches want the kids to be more diversified and they want to see them practice rather than just seeing them in games. This offers the coaches the chance to work with kids hands-on, while also giving kids exposure.”

At least 40 coaches in all are expected for the Fab 40 game.

Following more instruction Tuesday players will be broken into 12 teams for games. A Fab 40 All-Star Game will be held at 9 p.m. All players selected for the Showcase Camp all-star game are automatically eligible for the fall Philly Showcase, the nation’s best-attended recruiting event.

On Wednesday a playoff will be held and individual awards will be given.

Campers also will review their strengths and weaknesses from a new perspective through team film review sessions run by Division 1 coaches.

All games will be filmed in Broadcast Quality high definition by Next Level Video. Next Level Video uses elevated cranes, state of the art film equipment and professional camera operators.
