From Press Release

Eastern athletic director Nate Davis announced on Tuesday that the Eagles have hired a new head coach for women’s lacrosse. After a national search, the Eagles hired Kim Campbell, a graduate of Eastern and former Eastern women’s lacrosse and field hockey assistant coach.

Campbell is returning to the Eagles after being an assistant coach for field hockey and women’s lacrosse at Hendrix College.

As a student-athlete, Campbell was the starting women’s lacrosse goalkeeper for Division I Long Island University and then transferred to Eastern University, earning All-Region honors and winning a conference championship.

“We are truly excited to have Kim Campbell as our next Women’s Lacrosse coach,” athletic director Nate Davis said. “As an Alumni and former lacrosse standout at Eastern, she brings great enthusiasm for Eastern University as well as our Women’s Lacrosse program.”

Last season’s Eastern Women’s Lacrosse team featured a young core of nine freshmen players. The team improved to 6-10, but Campbell hopes to get the Eagles back into contention for a conference title. Historically, in 23 seasons as a program, the Eagles have made it to the conference championship game 13 times.

Campbell said that she thinks the future is bright for Eastern Women’s Lacrosse. “I am excited to be working with our student-athletes as they grow in their knowledge of lacrosse, grow into their adult selves and grow in their faith,” she said. “I’m excited to grow this program and want Eastern Women’s Lacrosse to be known for its relentless work ethic and achievements on and off the field.”

Campbell said she is dedicated to recruiting a strong freshman class each season and to challenging the players to improve in all areas of the game. “I want the team as a whole to set goals and work hard to achieve them,” she said. “I want to constantly challenge them and push them to get better, work harder, reach their potential and then surpass it.”

Campbell has begun immediately recruiting for Eastern. The Eagles begin the 2015 season at Albright College on Feb. 25.
