NXTsports’ Bandits Lacrosse will hold tryouts for its Bandits Lacrosse teams Sunday, April 13 at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia.
Limited spots remain for players in grades three through eight to try out for six teams. Players in grades three through six will try out from 2-3:30 p.m., while the seventh and eighth graders will take the field from 3:30-5.
“We’re very excited about the opportunity to continue the Bandits’ strong tradition with six teams for the summer of 2014,” Bandits Director of Coaching and SCH head boys lacrosse coach Mike DelGrande said. “We’re expecting to host more players than ever at our tryouts and we’re hoping that it fosters great competition to make the Bandits better than ever.”
Bandits players will practice at Springside Chestnut Hill’s facilities, where each team will practice 10-12 times in the summer and four to six times in the fall. The Bandits’ summer season features four summer tournaments in addition to two fall tournaments, plus winter box lacrosse training.
The Bandits have revamped their coaching staff for the 2014 season and will boast one of the best coaching staffs in the Philadelphia area. U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Famer Mike DelGrande is the headliner and he’s joined by current college players Ryan Ambler (Princeton, Ambler), a two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week, and Jeremy Omrod (Drexel, Holy Ghost Prep). Holy Ghost head coach Ryan Tessler (Saint Joseph’s), SCH assistant Chris Mandarino (Loyola, Md.), Widener assistant Reid Mayberry (Roanoke) and Lucas Denning (Bates) will ensure that each Bandit maximizes his potential.
