It did not take long for Matt Rambo to make an impact as a freshman at Maryland.
Rambo, the 2013 Phillylacrosse.com Player of the Year for state champion La Salle, had four goals and two assists Saturday as the Terps opened their 2014 season by throttling Mount St. Mary’s, 16-3.
Also for Maryland, goalie Niko Amato (La Salle) had 10 saves in three periods, defenseman Casey Ikeda (Conestoga) had two caused turnovers and a groundball, Jon Garino (Episcopal Academy) won 4 of 6 face-offs, defenseman Goran Murray (Haverford School) had a caused turnover and Kevin Forster (La Salle) had an assist.

Virginia 13, Richmond 12
Matt Barrett (Malvern Prep) was the winning goalie with five saves while defenseman Joe Lisicky (Unionville) had four GB and four CT for the Cavs in the tight win. Chris LaPierre (Shawnee) added 3 GB and Bobby Hill (Malvern Prep) had one GB and one CT.
Defenseman Tom Monzo (Penn Charter) had two CT and one GB for Richmond in an impressive program debut.
Mercer 17, Boston University 6
Chris Rahill (Archbishop Wood) scored twice for Mercer.
Adam Schaal (La Salle) scored once for BU, making its program, debut.
Duke 16, Jacksonville 10
Jordan Wolf (Lower Merion) collected two goals and four assists, LSM Brian Dailey (Conestoga) had 2 GB and one assist and defenseman Jamie Ikeda (Conestoga) had 2 GB and three CT for the defending national champion Blue Devils while
Colgate 7, Bryant 4
Eric Foote (Hill School) scored two goals for Colgate. Shane Morrell (Episcopal Academy) had a goal, an assist and three GB for Bryant.
Denver 14, Air Force 8
Keith Dreyer (Malvern Prep) had a goal and two assists for Air Force in defeat. DEF Alex Warden (Garnet Valley) added a GB.
Towson 11, High Point 8
Max Siskind (Henderson) scored twice and scooped two groundballs for the Tigers in their win.
Joe Taulane (Garnet valley) had three GB for High Point.
Navy 18, VMI 5
TJ Hanzsche (Malvern Prep) had a goal and a groundball and Gabe Voumard (St. Augustine Prep) had an assist and two groundballs while Sean Reilly (Central Bucks East) won both his face-offs for the host Mids.

Drew Kennedy (Malvern Prep) won 18 of 22 face-offs to help the Blue Jays prevail in OT.

Joey Sankey (Penn Charter) had three goals and Steve Pontrello (St. Augustine Prep) had a goal and an assist while defenseman Austin Pifani (Abington) added two groundballs. Ryan Creighton (Malvern Prep) had an assist, a caused turnover and a groundball while Ryan Kilpatrick (Salesianum School) added one GB.

Aimee Gennaro (Archbishop Carroll) collected one goal, three assists, three draw controls, three groundballs and one caused turnover for the Mids. Lindsay Rheiner (Council Rock North) added two CT and two DC while Molly Doyle (Council Rock North) had a DC.
North Carolina 20, Florida 8
Molly Hendrick (Manheim Twp.) had a goal, two assists, three DCs, two GB and one CT as the defending national champion tar Heels rolled. Defender Margaret Corzel (Merion Mercy) had a GB and a CT while Stephanie Lobb (West Chester East) had a GB.

Taylor Trimble (Episcopal Academy) had two GB and one DC to help Duke.
Colleen O’Malley (Great Valley) had a goal and a DC for the Cards.

Bridget Bianco (Moorestown) made 14 saves, Blake McHugh (Episcopal Academy) had a goal, a DC and a GB while defender Kate Ivory (Episcopal Academy) had two CT and two GB for the winning Wildcats.
