From Press Release
Seven student-athletes are set to join the Ivy League’s premier women’s lacrosse program this fall as members of the Class of 2017 head coach Karin Corbett announced today. The group, which comprises four states, is made up of four midfielders, two attackers and a defender. Each has won at least one high school championship and the group has earned a combined 10 All-American honors as of this release.
“This is a class that I am really excited about adding to our program,” head coach Karin Corbett said. “These seven young women are accomplished both on the field and off. We pride ourselves on a championship pedigree and this group is ready to carry on our tradition based on high levels of success at the club and high school level. This is a group hungry to learn and develop, possessing great game sense and dynamic speed. The versatility they bring will be a tremendous boost to our program in the coming years.”
This group will join a Penn team which has won the last seven Ivy League regular season championships – the longest active streak among all Division I programs and tied for the longest run of League titles in Ivy women’s lacrosse history. In addition to the seven newcomers the Red and Blue return 25 players, including three unanimous first-team All-Ivy selections in Lucy Ferguson, Shannon Mangini and Meg Markham.
