From Press Release
Liberty junior Jen Moyer (Pennridge) was named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, as announced by the conference office.
Moyer made her first career start on defense in the Lady Flames’ season-opening win over Stetson on Sunday afternoon. The Pennsylvania native led the Liberty defense, as it only surrendered three goals in the contest to the Hatters. The three goals were the fewest surrendered in a game in program history.
Moyer paced the Lady Flames with three ground balls and a career-high five draw controls. The defender also made her presence felt on the offensive end of the field midway through the first half. After a save by Liberty goalie Kristen Masullo, Moyer collected the ball and raced the length of the field and assisted on a Morgan Becker goal to put the Lady Flames on top, 3-1.
Liberty returns to action on Saturday for its 2013 home opener against Navy at the Liberty Lacrosse Field. Game time against the Midshipmen is slated for noon.
