Seniors Laura Kleiber, Rachel Martin and Ana White (Strath Haven) have been named captains of the 2013-14 Lafayette women’s lacrosse team, head coach Alison Fisher announced. The trio were key members of last season’s team that made it to the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since 2004.

“It is a great honor to be named a team captain by your peers, and Laura, Rachel and Ana are very deserving of the title,” Fisher said. “They have proven their commitment to the success of our program and earned the respect and trust of their teammates and their coaches. I have no doubts that these three, along with their fellow seniors will guide our team to great things this spring.”

Kleiber started all 18 games last campaign and tallied 37 goals for the Leopards. The All-Patriot League First Team selection finished third on the team with 44 points. The Far Hills, N.J. native scored in 16 of 18 contests last season from her midfield position. The senior has played in 47 games, tallying 68 goals and 13 assists in her career.

A Belle Mead, N.J. native, Martin, started every game as a defender last season, earning her way to All-Patriot League Second-Team honors. The senior was second on the squad with 30 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. In her career, Martin has caused 48 turnovers and picked up 80 groundballs in 51 career games.

White led the Leopards attack last season with 68 points on 46 goals and 22 assists. The Patriot League Midfielder of the Year a season ago was also at the top of the League in ground balls (47) and caused turnovers.

The Swarthmore, Pa. native holds the Patriot League record for career draw controls with 297. White was a force in the middle last year starting every game for the Maroon and White.
