From Press Release

Second-year UC Davis head women’s lacrosse coach Kate Henwood (Garnet Valley, La Salle alum, Garnet Valley coach) announced former Hofstra team captain Casey Kellogg (Downingtown West) as an assistant coach, and released her fall schedule of events. The October slate features two home contests: the Blue-Gold alumni event on October 5 and a home scrimmage against Cal on the 19th.

A second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association pick in 2012, Kellogg started 40 games during her career with the Pride, finishing with a four-year total of 23 goals, 39 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers. As a senior, her teammates selected her as a team captain. Kellogg made the Dean’s List and added CAA Commissioner’s Academic Awards throughout all four years, helping Hofstra compile the nation’s highest team GPA in 2010 She graduated with a degree in marketing and a minor in fine arts last spring.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to add a new assistant coach to our staff, especially one of Casey’s caliber. She had a tremendous career at Hofstra as a gritty midfielder and I know she has high expectations of our players and program,” said Henwood, the Coach of the Year in 2011 when she guided Garnet Valley to the first of two state titles in a row.

“During her senior campaign, she played under the tutelage of Shannon Smith, the all-time leading scorer at seven-time national champion Northwestern University, where she learned a fresh perspective of innovative offensive and defensive systems. I expect Casey to make immediate contributions to UC Davis lacrosse in the areas of player development, recruiting, operations and marketing.”

Kellogg, originally from Downingtown West High School in Downington, Pa., served on the Pride’s sports marketing department as an undergraduate. She balanced her work, scholastic and student-athlete demands with coaching experience at a variety of camps and clinics.

Kellogg joins top assistant Amanda Kammes and volunteer assistant Hilary Harkins on the Aggies’ four-person staff.

Henwood also launched her fall schedule, starting with the Blue-Gold alumni scrimmage and ending with the Stanford Playday, and her Halloween 4v4 tournament and clinic. The fall slate is as follows (home events in ALL CAPS):

Oct. 5 – BLUE & GOLD ALUMNI (scrimmage), 3:30 p.m.
Oct. 12 – at Saint Mary’s (scrimmage), 11 a.m.
Oct. 19 – CALIFORNIA (scrimmage), 11 a.m.
