South Jersey playoffs: Moorestown, Shawnee girls claim Group titles

Marie McCool scored four goals and Gabby Frank added three goals and two assists as the host Moorestown girls’ lacrosse team routed Notre Dame, 19-2, today to claim the South Jersey Group 3 championship.

The Quakers, ranked No. 1 by, improved to 22-0 and advanced to the State Group III title game Saturday at Kean University vs. Mendham, a 16-8 winner over Princeton.

Kierstyn Voiro had two goals, two assists and four groundballs for Moorestown while Megan Kelly led the defense with three caused turnovers and two groundballs.

Shawnee 17, Eastern 2

Erin Smith had five goals while Shannon Nugent and Caoline Shinske added four goals each as the Renegades (17-2) thrashed the Vikings (18-2) for the Group 4 crown.

Shawnee had fallen to Eastern, 11-10, on May 9.

The Renegades will play No. 2 Ridgewood in the Group 4 final on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Kean University. Ridgewood routed Immaculate Heart, 18-5.

Oak Knoll 13, Bishop Eustace 4

Oak Knoll outscored the Crusaders (16-4), 10-0 in the second half to claim the title.

Group 4 Boys
Ridgewood 7, Shawnee 3

Billy Maltz had two goals to lead the Maroons (13-9) past the Renegades in the state Group 4 title game.

Jacob Dean had two goals for Shawnee.
