Bryce Reid scored four goals, including the game-winner 27 seconds into overtime, as the Avon Grove remained undefeated with a thrilling 8-7 victory at previously-undefeated Central Bucks East Saturday in non-league boys’ lacrosse.
The Red Devils (8-0), ranked No. 7 by Phillylacrosse.com, had a 7-4 lead late in the game before 15th-ranked East (8-1) rallied and tied it with 16 seconds left on a goal by Anthony Casselli (Matt Schmidt assist).
Reid’s game-winner came early in the OT period after Anthony Cardile (12 of 20 FO, five groundballs) won the opening draw of the extra frame.
East’s Sean McGovern (20 saves) and Avon Grove’s Matt Schreiner (14 saves) both were standout in the goal.
Tanner Peck added four goals and two assist for the Red Devils and Nick Cardile had eight groundballs.
For CB East, Anthony Casselli led the Patriots led with three goals while Matt Milici had two goals and one assist.
Episcopal Academy 5, Conestoga 3
Tyler Chambers scored twice to lead the attack and Colin Reder (10 saves) and Matt Ernst (10 of 12 face-offs) lifted the Churchmen (7-3) to their sixth straight victory. Dutch Buckley, Ian Strain and Peter Gayhardt also scored for EA.
Robbie Zonino was a standout with 16 saves for the Pioneers while Pierre Atkinson and Jake Scott each had a goal and an assist. Alex Mezey also scored for Conestoga.
Sun Valley 11, Phoenixville 4
Matt Cioeta collected six goals and three assists and Connor Johnson fired in three goals for the Vanguards (5-2).
Moorestown 11, Northern Hunterdon 5
Matt Olbrich scored three goals and won 13 of 17 face-offs and Michael Handlan had three goals and two assists to lead the Quakers
Haverford High 7, Bayard Rustin 3
Kevin Leyden scored three goals and Gavin Vanstone made 13 saves in goal for the Fords.
Ridley 7, Wissahickon 3
Kelton Heverly pumped in four goals and Lou Harrison added two while Tom McDermott made 15 stops in goal for the Green Raiders (6-2).
Cardinal O’Hara 12, West Chester East 5
Dan McNamara had four goals and one assists and Tim Coyle made 11 saves for the Lions (3-3).
Matt Hann and Nick Myres each scored twice for East.
Central Bucks South 8, Harriton 3
The Titans (7-2) scored all five goals in the final period and Jake Henze had two goals and three assists for the Titans.
Ty Strayline had three goals and Tom DiBrino added two goals and Ryan Kelly had seven saves.
Upper Merion 13, Strath Haven 12
Mikey Zadroga erupted for eight goals and Trevor Kupecky had three goals and four assists while Troy Minnich had 14 saves to lead the Vikings to the non-league win.
Will Ohley had four goals and two assists, while Mitch Cross had two goals and four assists for the Panthers.
Hill School 12, Wyoming Seminary 7
JD Brachman had four goals and two assists to lead the Blues.
Hill Academy 14, St. Joseph’s Prep 4
Scott Scheuerle had two goals and Jace Liszka won 9 of 16 face-offs for the Hawks in the defeat to the Canadian power.
Downingtown East 14, North Penn 5
Kyle Lauletta had six goals and an assist and Lucas Iacovino had three goals for the Cougars.
Lucas Iacovino added a season-high three goals for East, while Brandyn O’Connell tallied once and dished out four assists.
Kennett 13, Marple Newtown 6
Kevin McQuiston collected four goals and five assists, Brady O’Neill added three goals and two assists and Matt Worrall had three goals and one assist for Kennett.
Also for Kennet, Hunter Schmeusser and Matt Smith combined to win 17 of 21 face-offs and Alex O’Brien scooped 12 ground balls.
Dave Talda led the Tigers with three goals.
Unionville 19, Archbishop Carroll 14
Patch Johnson exploded for seven goals and three assists for Unionville.
